“I’ve had my Coleman InstaStart stove for 6 months now and have used it many times. It always lights without fail from the InstaStart button. Excellent feature! The flame has not yet been blown out from any wind…The built-in side windshields are another nice touch. It’s compact and lightweight as you can get for a portable two burner stove and the built in handle is right on target with what I wanted in a portable stove. As for storing the Grate and the fuel bottle extension…I simply wrapped them together with a strip of Velcro and this kept these two items secure inside the case. The only flaw this stove has, and is mentioned in other reviews, is the clasp which holds the bottom and top together….it’s plastic and subject to break easily or simply come undone. If Coleman could beef this clasp up with metal instead of plastic, this would be the perfect camp stove. Anyway, excellent engineering and thought went into this stove and it deserves 4.5 stars.”

As for the flame difficulties that other reviewers report, I suggest that you might want a separate, hand-held spark lighter if you find the built-in spark a little small. As for the flame being hard to keep low, we found that using a burner plate/heat diffuser will allow better startup, lower simmer, more even flame and better breeze protection.

This is a reliable unit, easy to use, easy to clean. I still have a liquid-fuel Coleman stove (vintage 1955) but this is a much easier stove and delivers a good flame. I highly recommend it for campouts or as a backup for emergencies.”
